X - a mark that may be used as a substitue for a signature in some cases. Someone who cannot write his or her name may indicate agreement by marking an X in the place of a signature. A witness would then write in the name of the signer next to the X mark.

X - the Roman numeral. It may be substituted for the number 10.

X-bracing - the cross bracing in a partition.

Xeriscape - also known as water smart landscaping. Landscaping your yard using water efficient plants and moisture retaining mulches.

Xylotomous - a characteristic of termites indicating their ability to bore into wood. You may run across this term in a home inspection report.
