In 2008, Lafayette CO, the city that boasts Blue Heron states, was named one of the best of 100 communities in the United States in which to live.  Blue Heron is in the center of Boulder county and very close to the small towns and communities that make up Boulder CO Homes.  It is a short drive to Pearl Street where the restaurants are wonderful, the atmosphere is exciting and the people around you are fascinating.  In 30 minutes you can be in downtown Denver which might be a bit more sedate but just as much fun.

Blue Heron Estates itself is a gated community with a five acre park, wonderful recreational facilities with a clubhouse, beautiful front range views and a well organized social committee who plans and executes monthly events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, community wide garage sale, and a family campout in July.

The Lafayette Housing in the area is unique in that most of the homes are custom built.  In fact, at the time of this writing there are only three homes available ranging in price from $659,000 to $759,000.  They are large homes with a minimum of 4,000 finished square feet and up.  Most of the homes were built in the 1990’s but are still very contemporary with many desirable features.  Public schools would be Lafayette Elementary, Angevine Junior High and Centaurus High School.  This community would also be very close to the private prep school known as Alexander Dawson.
