Broomfield CO is the home to Sun Micro Systems, Level 3, Hunter Douglas and other major corporate plants and offices. These and other Fortune 500 companies are located halfway between the Denver and Boulder city limits along US Highway 36, also called the Boulder Turnpike, in an area known locally as "Interlocken". Other major highway access is from the E-470 / Northwest Parkway toll road and US Highway 287 and Colorado Highways 121, 7, and 128.
One of the first Master planned communities Broomfield has a highly educated work force, and a range of housing for those employees and business owners. Since 2000, Broomfield is the second City and County created in Colorado. The Broomfield Economic Development can assist business interests in exploring the advantages to a Colorado relocation or startup. There are established business parks such as Interlocken with numerous Class A buildings and room for more, flex buildings, and freestanding or condo buildings for lease or sale from 500 square feet to over 200,000 square feet. Specific industries that have found a favorable environment are computer software developers, server farms, research and development, file management, recreational sports and resort companies such as Vail Associates.
Small industrial spaces for machine shops, custom bicycle and pedicab manufacturers, electronics design and fabrication and others are available at reasonable rates for lease or purchase. Existing Mass transit facilities serving the Metro Denver area center at the Broomfield Park and Ride operated by RTD. Fastracks commuter rail is planned and construction is imminent. Airport facilities at the Rocky Mountain Regional Airport allows jet and other private aviation through excellent FBO's. A thirty minute drive to DIA and bus service to the airport with RTD's Skyride allow international and domestic flights in one of the great terminals in the world.
